India was elected for the 8th time a temporary member of the Security Council, 184 votes out of 192.

New York.  India has been elected as a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council for the 8th time in 8 years.  193 countries of the General Assembly took part in the voting on Wednesday.  184 countries supported India.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the countries supporting India.  India has been elected as a provisional member for two years.  Ireland, Mexico and Norway have also been elected provisional members along with India.


 The US welcomed India's temporary membership of the Security Council.  Said- India and America will work together on important issues like peace and security in the world.

 What did Modi say?

 Prime Minister Modi expressed happiness after India was elected as a temporary member of the Security Council.  In a tweet, the world supported and supported India's temporary membership in the UN Security Council.  I thank them.  India will work for international peace, security and equality with everyone's cooperation.

It extends relations
 A statement was issued by the US after the announcement of India being made a temporary member.  It said, "We welcome India.  Congratulate him  The two countries will work together on issues of peace restoration and security in the world.  There is a global strategic partnership between the two countries.  We want to take it further.  Pakistan upset

 Pakistan is troubled by India's permanent membership of the UN Security Council.  Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mohammad Qureshi said before voting- India's temporary membership in UNSC is a matter of concern for us. India has always rejected the proposals being raised from this forum.  There will be no sky burst due to India becoming a temporary member. Pakistan has also been a temporary member seven times.

 Why are temporary members elected

 The purpose of choosing a temporary member in the Security Council is to maintain regional balance there.  There are three candidates in two seats for Africa and Asia-Pacific countries, Djibouti, India and Kenya.

 This is how elections happen
 In the United Nations with 193 members, India needed the support of two-thirds or 128 countries to win.  Member countries vote with the secret ballot.  India's term will begin from 1 January 2021.

 When was India elected as a temporary member
 India is being elected a permanent member of the Security Council for the eighth time.  Prior to this, India has carried out this responsibility in 1950–51, 1967–68, 1972–73, 1977–78, 1984–85, 1991–92 and 2011–12.

 Total 15 countries in the Security Council

 There are a total of 15 countries on the United Nations Security Council.  It has five permanent members.  These are America, Russia, France, Britain and China.  10 countries have been given temporary membership.  Five temporary members are elected every year.  The tenure of temporary members is two years.

India was last elected in 2011

 10 non-permanent seats are distributed on a regional basis with 5 for African and Asian countries;  1 for Eastern European countries;  2 for Latin American and Caribbean countries;  And 2 seats have been fixed for Western European and other countries.

 To be elected to the Council, the candidate countries need a two-thirds majority of the ballots of member states present and voting in the General Assembly.

 India's permanent representative at the United Nations, TS Trimurti, says that India's presence in the Security Council will strengthen the perception of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in the world.

The United Nations Security Council is one of the six major organs of the United Nations, responsible for maintaining international peace and security.  The council also has the authority to declare mandatory decisions.  Such a decision is called a UN Security Council resolution. It is also called a soldier of the world because it is the responsibility of global peace and security.

The Security Council has 15 members: five permanent and ten short term (every 2 years).  The five permanent members are China, France, Russia, Great Britain and the United States.  These five countries have delegated power, not in procedural matters but in legitimate cases.  The remaining ten members are elected by the General Assembly on a regional basis for a period of two years.  The President of the Security Council changes alphabetically every month.  The United Nations has six parts 1.
